Q: What are the rules / chat guidelines of #SpiceForever?

A: The following are the rules / general chat guidelines of #SpiceForever:

Q: What are the kickable offences of #SpiceForever?

A: The following rules are the "kickable offences" of #SpiceForever.  You will be warned if you break any of the rules, and if you continue to do so you will be banned.

• Please do not persistently advertise a site, unless it is relevant to the conversation.
• Do not type in only capital letters or in coloured / bolded / underlined text.
• Do not flood the channel with text. (This can automatically kick you out.)
• Treat others with some respect.  We will warn you if you have offended anyone.
• It would be wrong to say 'don't criticise the Spice Girls'; but if you come in and aren't' a fan we really don't want your comments.
• English is language used in #SpiceForever. If you spam anyone with a different language you will be banned.
• Have fun!!! Yes, this is a rule, because some people don't obey it!!!

Q: What is an "Op" / Why is some people's text blue / What is the symbol next to someone's name?  What does it mean?

A: An "Op" is a user that is a Channel Operator. They have additional control over you as well as the chat owner (Paul).  They have the ability to kick you and ban you (with a full OP vote).

Q: Can I become an Op?

A: Yes, but only if the current OP's select you.  You may ask Paul (SF-2K) for an application e-mail and then we will review it.  Do not pester us to become an OP- you have to be well know by all the current OP's and have used the chat on a regular basis for at least 3 months.

Q: Why did my name change to GuestXXXXX?

A: The nickname you were trying to use is already registered to someone else.

Q: How do I change my nickname?

A: Type: /nick nickname (where nickname is the name you want to change to)

Q: How do I register my nickname?

A: Type: /nickserv register password email (where password is a password you want, and email is your email address)

Q: Are there other ways to access #SpiceForever other than the web?

A: Certainly, #SpiceForver is on IRC, which stands for Internet Relay Chat.

Q: What is IRC? (and) What is mIRC?

A: IRC is the standard used to chat in #SpiceForever. When you connect to the chat channel, you are connecting to an IRC server. IRC allows many users to chat over a multitude of servers in various rooms, called channels, and in personal chat. It also allows you to send files to other users among other things. You can use IRC outside of the web. There are several programs that allow you to do this. The most popular is called mIRC. Please visit http://www.mirc.co.uk for more information. Other IRC clients include dIRC and Klient.

Q: How do I use mIRC?

A: Under mIRC Options, click on the Connect field, then add the server 'irc.webchat.org'. Once that server has been added, click on the 'Connect' button. After you have connected to the server, type '/join #SpiceChat' to enter #SpiceChat. Visit http://www.mirc.co.uk for more information.

Q: Can I do anything else besides talk in #SpiceForever? What commands can I use?

A: There are many different commands in IRC, for a list of them visit a site like http://www.mirc.co.uk.

Q: Why isn't anyone talking to me? / Why does it take so long for people to respond?

A: People are multi-tasking- In English they are doing other things as well.  i.e their chat window will be minimised.

Q: What just happened?? #SpiceForever just disappeared and I see something that says 'XXXX Rooms' at the top and I see all this crazy text?!?!?!

A: You were just kicked out of the channel. When you are kicked in the web client, for some reason a '/list' IRC command is executed and you see a list of all the available channels on irc.webchat.org.

Q: Why was I kicked / banned from #SpiceForever?

A: If you were kicked, an OP obviously observed that you broke a rule.  Come back to the chat in a couple of days when all will be forgotten.  If you were banned then the OP's have had a vote, and if you require details to your banning then contact us and we will give you our reasons.

N.B:  An OP must first tell you why they are kicking you from the channel.  Paul (SF-2K) has the final word on banning.  Please do not pester all OP's about banning unless Paul is not on the chat.

Q: I was banned. Can you please un-ban me?

A: That is up to you- If you e-mail Paul (moderator@37.com), he will consider un-banning you.  But, if you persistently try to un-ban yourself then you will be permanently banned

Q: Under 'Show User Settings', what do the different letters in the user modes and operator modes mean?

A: They are standard IRC settings, visit an IRC website like http://www.mirc.co.uk for more information.

Q: It says "Warning: Applet Window" in the Status Bar when I talk to someone in a private chat / enter another chat channel. What does that mean?

A: It means you are using the webchat, if you are worried about it, use a non-web IRC client.

Q: Can I be kicked for staying in the channel and not doing anything?
